The show’s last two episodes on May 13 came in 10th and 11th out of the 17 programs aired on broadcast TV that evening. Unfortunately, that social media talk didn’t translate into enough people actually watching the second season.

However, Ryan told fans that’s an uneasy proposition as well, pointing out the “considerable economic obstacles” in another tweet. The only hope left for the time-traveling saga is if NBC agrees to produce a two-hour TV-movie that would allow Ryan and co-creator Shawn Kripke to wrap up their story, which ended with a lot of questions, including the ultimate fate of Rufus (Malcolm Barrett). “Efforts to land Timeless at another network have sadly failed,” Ryan tweeted Monday night.
